The name Usini come from the Greek \u201cEuxsenos\u201d, meaning hospitable place and it is presumed that the first settlers arrived at the end of the year one-thousand in Corrau, an area of the village today. With the growth and expansion of the town, it was divided into neighbourhoods and until 1960 it was a mainly agropastoral centre. On the outskirts of the village, not far from the houses, there is a monumental cemetery. Here there are still some historical tombs, in Neoclassic style, dating back to the second half of the 19th century. Of particular interest, right near the entrance is the tomb of the Diaz family, with an imposing marble sculpture in memory of Giuseppe Derosas. The artwork depicts a child behind a plough pulled by oxen, focused on working in a field.
